![]() Sheldon Statewide Exhibition “Finding Horizons” Art lovers in York have a new reason to celebrate as the Sheldon Statewide Exhibition, Finding Horizons, arriving to Cornerstone Bank. This stunning collection explores the landscape genre through painting, printmaking, and photography, featuring a diverse group of artists renowned for their striking use of horizon lines. From realistic depictions of sweeping landscapes to abstract interpretations of space and depth, Finding Horizons offers a unique visual journey. The horizon line serves as a grounding element in each composition, allowing viewers to share the artist's perspective and immerse themselves in the world they’ve created. The exhibition showcases works by esteemed artists such as Russell T. Gordon, John Pfahl, Manuel Álvarez Bravo, and Thelma Lorie Christenson, among others. This exhibition is part of the Sheldon Statewide program, an initiative launched in 1987 to bring the Sheldon Museum of Art’s collection to communities across Nebraska. During the 2024-2025 school year, Finding Horizons will travel to eight locations, reaching thousands of visitors across the state. The tour includes stops in Chadron, North Platte, McCook, Grand Island, York, Beatrice, Fremont, and Falls City. For residents and visitors alike, Finding Horizons presents a remarkable opportunity to engage with powerful artworks and explore how artists use horizon lines to shape perception and emotion in their landscapes. The exhibition is open free to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the lower-level gallery of Cornerstone Bank at 529 N. Lincoln Avenue in downtown York.
